Momma Pepper Has Cancer

It happened almost overnight … a small lump developed on Momma Pepper’s neck. We were hopeful, thinking that is may be just an insect bit. But the next day’s vet visit pretty much confirmed what we had feared … a malignant thyroid tumor. Surgery wasn’t an option at all. Thankfully, a local oncologist has some options. A combination of thermo and chemo to shrink the tumor and give her many more months/years with no pain and little risk. And … it seems to be working!!! But, this treatment isn’t cheap, despite our discounts. So … We are excited to announce a new partnership with the crowdfunding website, and we would love to have your help. helps organizations like ours to raise money for critically needed projects. For a small donation (think $10 or less) you can make a huge difference. Here’s how you can help:

Happy 8th Birthday, Momma CoCo

Momma CoCo is 8 years old and doing fine.  She came into heat the day she arrived, so her spay surgery has been postponed.  We are doing her labwork and exams to make sure she’s healthy.  It’s hard to believe that she recently weaned a litter of pups!

Just Because …

Momma Levity is one of the most photogenic dogs we’ve ever had.  Her many expressions and her cooperation in front of the camera allow us to capture the soul and spirit of greyhounds.

Welcome Momma CoCo!

Momma CoCo

We want to extend a very warm welcome to our newest Sanctuary member, Momma CoCo.  She’s almost 8 years old and just weaned her third and last litter of puppies after an active racing career.  Momma CoCo broke her leg a few years ago, but it never did heal properly.  We are looking into the possibility of somehow fixing her leg or providing some mobility support.  Although she hobbles and hops, her spirit is not broken and she is serving as a wonderful role model, especially on the days that we have more than our share of aches and pains.
